In fact, a dozen new features have been put on the roadmap for the coming months. Microsoft says the array of new feature will arrive in preview through the Canary channel during September and October. For September, Chromium Edge will receive a setting that allows users to stop auto-playing media on websites. Microsoft says it will also improve how the browser scrolls through sites. Furthermore, expect to see a new favorites button added to the toolbar. As for October, the Canary channel will receive support for users to ink on open PDFs. Users singed in to Edge will have up-to-date avatars. Finally, Chromium Edge users will also be able to see their own images as backgrounds on the new tab page.
Requests
Microsoft says users are requesting the ability to hide the Bing Bar in Chromium Edge. As the company’s search engine, it is logical that Bing is pushed as the central search solution through a permanent integration on Edge. However, users want the ability to hide the bar, something we doubt Microsoft will be willing to do. Still, the company says it is reviewing the requests. As for the confirmed changes for the next two months, Microsoft Edge engineers say users are also asking for the ability for the browser to support themes from Google Chrome’s Web Store. Chromium Edge already supports extensions from Google’s browser so themes is a logical evolution.
