Alongside its other extensions in the Chrome store, Microsoft is now offering Windows 10 Accounts. The solution is automatically pushed to devices via Group Policy and offers Azure AD users a single sign on to integrated services. For example, you sign into your work account with your regular account and will have access to services like Office 365, OneDrive, and more. Here’s the official description: “Use this extension to sign in to supported websites with accounts on Windows 10. If you have a Microsoft supported identity on Windows 10, you won’t be required to enter your credentials to sign in to supported websites. You’ll need to use this extension if your organization has implemented conditional access policy. Currently, this extension supports Azure Active Directory identities.” The only caveat is that users must be on the Windows 10 Creators Update for an easy setup. On builds earlier than that, you’ll have to install the corresponding binaries.
Already Available in Microsoft Browsers
It’s worth noting that automatic sign-in features have been available in Edge for a while. It also has a single sign-on solution for corporate networks. Microsoft isn’t neglecting its browser in favor of another. Instead, it’s simply not punishing users for moving outside of its ecosystem.
